Keywords field for products

I need Keywords for products... 

How can I add the Keywords field for products?

They were removed as input by PrestaShop.  For some time now they have not been used at least by Google.

What would you need it for? You can use tags for internal purposes.

There is no need to add keywords on your metas. Simply select keywords and start back-linking. 

 

I agree with you but keywords must be relevant on website content.

Exactly.  for your information these keywords must have to be 1,2 times in your content then Google will read them through your content and rank your product or website home page etc in its search.

Yes, Google dropped them, but there are some other SEs besides Google: Yahoo, Bing/Microsoft, Yandex and especially Baidu (still puts huge emphasis on meta keywords -- imo).

Yes, I totally agree.

It's not helpful for Google, but other search engines (it's a bit better than nothing).

 

But there is no way to bring it back. 

I would write a module for that soon, it should be a small one.

admin/themes/default/template/controllers/products/seo.tpl

find this

{* Removed for simplicity *}
<div class="form-group hide">
<label class="control-label col-lg-3" for="meta_keywords_{$id_lang}">

and replace with this

<div class="form-group">
<label class="control-label col-lg-3" for="meta_keywords_{$id_lang}">

the field is hidden

As i told you it dosn't work, i deleted the calss hide, and clear cache but without success

It works like a charm.

Anyway, a tip for all professional developers. 

DO NOT MODIFY PRESTASHOP, BUT OVERRIDE IT.

Otherwise, all your changes will be lost when you upgrade to a newer version.

 

So that, I put the modified file under override folder, and it still works too:

Here is the path:

/override/controllers/admin/templates/products/seo.tpl

Google is not considering the meta keywords now anymore because people start doing overstuffing of keywords in the website which is not a good practice.Just try to add only relevant ones in your web page meta tags and in your title tags .
