[solved] backup site

Recommended Posts

you have likely used an FTP client to back up your files, and defaulted these files to ascii.

A FTP client has 2 file modes (binary and ascii).  Your downloadable product files are stored in a directory called "download" and these are binary files without an extension, like 78a6sd87a6sd87a6sd8a7

Since they have no extension, your FTP client cannot determine if they are ascii or binary.  For example, a file with a .php extension will be an ascii file (you can edit the file and read it).  A file with a .zip extension is binary (you cannot simply edit the file and read it, you need a special program like winzip).

So to fix this problem, you should download each file in the 'download' folder as binary.  Then you should upload each of them to your test store, again using binary.
