Customize default theme in 2columns

Hi every body
I'm new to prestashop and i want to make a 2 colunns theme like the attached img.
I managed to put a category in header placement and now i'm looking to have the following behaviour :
When you click for example on a "zodiaque" category i would like to have all the products images on left side and the main enlarge image of the product on a right side.
first idea :
the categories listing goes on a left column and you have the first item of the list enlarged image displayed on the right by default. To display the following items you have to click to the small images to display the main one on the right.
second idea :
When you click the category product you display the Products Category module on a left column with the main image product on right but I don't know where to look to do this.

Any ideas to do this kind of behaviours ??

Any documentation about how to deal with product display ?

PS : I'm quite disappointed about the official documentation : really poor for a open source project.

Price is this for Product Details? Have you checked the tpl files in the theme folder?
