Prestashop ability to manage thousands of products

Hello,

 

I am new to Prestashop. In the past I have used Joomla / Virtuemart and Magento

 

My main problem that I need to resolve is:

 

I have about 200,000 products to load using CSV or XML to import. 

Both Magento & Virtuemart are giving me headaches with the size of the database and luck of support of external images.

 

What kind of hardware requirements I need to have descent speed?

 

Is it possible to create the nested categories from a  CSV file?

 

I prefer to have all images externally to different servers to give some relief to the main system. Does it support external URL of each image?
