<SOLVED>images not showing :(

Recommended Posts

I use hostgator as a host.

installed the package but the built in images are not showing. had chmod the img folder to 777 but hostgator support told me it had to be 644 for the files and 755 for the folders so I changed it to that and still no images.

I thought it was the gd library in php.ini but support told me that gd library was already turned on (when I went into php.ini and made the change per installation instructions I got a 500 error and I contacted hostgator).

so can get to admin and store but no images. hostgator is kind of stumped also. I doubled checked the settings.inc.php file (I think it was called in /config) and the dir is set to the subdirectory I installed it into (mysite.com/prestashop).

does anyone have any other ideas? I think I had this same problem when I installed cre loaded on my server but can't remember how I fixed it ! may be a wierd thing with hostgator.

wanting to try out prestashop in a subdir first and then if I like it switch to it from cre loaded. any help appreciated !

Thank you.

oops, forgot to mention:

the images don't show but IF you right click on the image, paste the url of the image into the browser and then go to that image it shows ! but it will not show within a page.

I have tried 3 browsers and cleared my cache. I think it is probably perimissions or configuration but according to my host 755 & 644 is what it has to be (and that is what it is set at and that works with my cre loaded store). the config file shows the correct subdirectory I installed it into so not sure where to go from here :(

I solved this by creating a blank .htaccess file and then turning on friendly seos in the admin. wierd it won't work without it though I would have turned it on eventually (friendlier seo is what I am hoping to get with prestashop !).
