Problem with PrestaShop theme

Recommended Posts

OK, I purchased a theme from PS, installed it in my dashboard (by adding a new theme and saving it). Then I deleted the default theme since I don't need it. But my new theme still shows like the old default theme, only the colors and layout changed. I spent a couple of weeks browsing the themes and picking exactly what I need, but when I installed it, there's no cart in the left column, the number of tabs is different, and there are other things missing. I thought I'd buy a theme that is set up exactly the way it is in the demo, so I wouldn't have to spend time adding things. And I've no idea how to add them!

The theme I bought is this one:

http://addons.prestashop.com/demo/FO7601.html

This is what my store looks like:

http://postcardfair.com/index.php?live_configurator_token=2c871fc81b3f495cd693a99cb99b24dd&id_employee=1&id_shop=1

Please someone help me with this theme before I go crazy! I would like my store look very similar to what it was in the demo. I don't know what I'm doing wrong.

So far, I only deleted the slider as I heard so many people say they're annoyed by them, and also added my own logo.

How do I get my store look like the theme in the demo, with all the features it has in it? Thanks!

Well, then perhaps PS should restate the misleading claim that "The website is ready in 10 minutes" if it takes so longn  to fiddle with everything.

in fact, you've got little troubles with custom theme, not with prestashop itself.

i bet that installation of ps took less than 10 minutes, and i think that they had this in mind while they said "The website is ready in 10 minutes":)

I'm having a similar problem. I thought it was because the theme (Everything for Sewing) was only showing compatibility with v1.5.6.2 so I removed the v1.6, reinstalled with v1.5.6.2 to no avail. I paid for a theme because I actually thought that it would LOOK like the theme. The thumbnail doesn't even match what I bought (it shows the Ashleys Template). I see from above that one is supposed to add modules but I don't have any idea WHAT modules are meant to make it look like the demo. I understand I need to manually adjust the images & other items but where do I find documentation on making my theme look like what I supposedly bought?

I bought "Everything for Sewing", which my site only vaguely resembles: http://newshop.busyneedle.ch/index.php

Please help! Thanks!

BusyNeedle, I also thought that the theme I bought would look exactly like in the demo, so I wouldn't spend weeks figuring out how to make it look that way. In fact, the theme will not look even close to what it shows in the demo. You'll have to uninstall this and that (and first figure out what that is!), then install the modules (and also first find out what they are). I wasted so much time because of that. I spent a lot of time browsing various themes and seeing which ones I liked best. Like you, I thought I will only need to rename some tabs and fill in the products. I even chatted with the sales rep prior to purchasing to make sure the theme will look the way it did in the demo, and they said yes.

They should clearly state that the theme one buys is NOT going to look exactly the way it does in the demo, and buyers will have to adjust everything to make it look that way. These are not preset themes, they just have things "included", but it's up to the buyer to do all the adjustments. Which, in turn, makes no sense in creating a gazillion of themes if none of them are set up to look exactly like in the demos.
