how to read values from database

Hi ,

I am a new bee ,i want to read some product items from database and want to view that products on my home page.

Please any one who knows this...

Ok i will explain you the scenario, I have a header menu items( (shop by category,shop by occassion, Add on products) After clicking on this i.e Add on products it will display some items like chocklates,cakes etc... this all works in home page.

Now the next part is the view page ,that will come when i click on any products from home page.In this view page i get things like product id,product image ,price etc......

After completion of this (below all the above details ) i want to display the add on products (chocklates,cakes).

In a simple manner i want to display the items below the view page (i.e product.tpl )..

File names:product.tpl
