help image errors and kicked out of website

hello,

i have 2 questions,

i just sucessfully installed prestashop today, and everything was going fine until i had two problems:

images won't upload for products:
irealized that anytime i'd upload a product image, nothing would upload. does this have to do with my server ftp settings?
how can i give prestashop my ftp settings so it uploads correctly?

website is messed up all formatting is gone:
i tried to fix the problem by adjusting settings, and i went into admin backoffice -> preferences -> general and clicked on ssl to see what it would do, added more security, and by accident i also changed the root directory by typing in /htdocs/ since i dont have my files in a /store/ they are in my root called /htdocs/. now whenever i go to my website its there with no formatting, it keeps wanting to go to /htdocs/ how can i override the settings in the preferences -> general? is tehre a php file i can edit? beacuse right now i cant change the settings in "general" it keeps going back to /hdocs/ and if i hit submit it sends me an error page in my domain.

You cannot fix it from back end. Need to debug your source code

Those folder settings can be found in: settings.inc.php file that's in the config folder
