xitromedia Posted May 23, 2014 Share Posted May 23, 2014 hello community, it seams nobody pays attention to this very important legal question when using prestashop. this may result in legal difficulties. prestashop uses fancybox by default in frontend and backend. the new version 2 of fancybox is not anymore under MIT and GPL license but under Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial 3.0 license, which means for commercial use - and it think nearly every shop does this - you have to pay a license fee. my question is now: do i have to pay for a fancybox license if i use prestashop commercially for shop installations hosted on my server and rent by my customers ? or does the prestashop corp. have a corresponding fancybox license which covers the case that everybody can run and lease shops without paying separately for a fancybox license ? i could not find an appropriate answer anywhere and would be pleased if some of you can help to find an legally correct answer. i also contacted the author of fancybox a few days ago but got no answer until now. perhaps some of you have more luck. thanks andre Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
