Free shipping per item

Hello,

 

my first post here

 

my customer wants me to configure free shipping per item. So, you will pay shipping just for some items, and you will get free shipping for other items. I was thinking to set the item's weight to 0, so this would mean no shipping cost according to the shipping price tables. But the problem is that he has two carriers and he wants to have free shipping at the standard carrier, not for the express shipping.

btw. we are updating Prestashop stock via webservices from custom stock management system, so there is no problem for us to do tasks that would involve lot of manual work and custom settings.
