Problem with "Customer Service" PS 1.6.0.6

Recommended Posts

hello, im new with PS and I love it :)

I create a shop (fresh install, default theme) but I have one problem from the beggining.

When someone (client or not), send a message from contact form, The admin receive the message at "customer service" panel. Everything ok with that.

BUT when the admin answer this message, the client/user DON'T receive any email at his (inbox or spam).

I use "Use PHP's mail() function" and when I send the test email, I receive it normally!!

What happened when the admin answer the messages??

Thanks to all ;)

I noticed these issues weeks ago, see threads. 1) Emails from outside senders not reaching CS and 2) Messages not reaching customer from CS.

For #1 issue, when people send a message to our PS contact email using Gmail or Yahoo, etc. To bring these into Prestashop requires IMAP email, and does not work with PHP mail. See the documentation - "You also need to properly configure your IMAP settings, so that PrestaShop can retrieve the customer's answers to e-mail that were sent from the customer service tool." We are waiting to upgrade or web hosting email to IMAP so did not test to confirm solution.

For #2 issue, sending a message via the Customer Service page does not reach the recipient. No one at PS has answered clearly and the documentation is badly-written and misleading. I suspect that it only works with IMAP. It makes no sense that we can not send a message via PS Admin, especially since it has an internal email service of some type (hint, the Contact form works and message also reach customers when sent via their completed Order Form). Prestashop Customer Service page even falsly gives the impression that we we can send a message via CS and that it is sent successfully. THE DOCUMENTATION NEEDS TO BE VERY CLEAR ON THIS, says that only "retrieving" email needs IMAP, but no one at PS has replied, clarified, or corrected. PS added "Customer Service Options" which I guess they are using as a catchall about email, "You should make sure all fields are filled in order for the customer service tool to work properly."

IF IT DOES NOT WORK, THE DOCMENTATION SHOULD SAY EXACTLY ... "none of the Customer Service messaging tools work with PHP mail."

Frustrating

Daniel
