Can't add new items to cart and shopping cart always empty

Hello, this is an urgent problem, I hope someone can help me with this!

 

I've been developing on a fresh install of 1.6 (not upgraded from 1.5) but I am using a template that was designed for 1.5.

 

When I add products to the cart, it says that the products have been added to the cart and the item in blockcart goes to (1). However, the more items I add, the number of items still remains as 1, and it only shows the last added product. When I go to the shopping cart page, it shows the cart is empty.

 

Thinking it's a theme problem, I reverted to the default-bootstrap template and the problem persists.

 

Here are some the fixes I've tried after searching the forums:

 

  • Cleared my browser cache
  • Cleared shop cache from admin panel
  • Enabled debugging mode and disabled non-Prestashop modules / overrides
  • Cleared browser cookies
  • Tried with multiple browsers including IE (same problem persists)
  • Reuploaded js/ and classes/ files from a fresh 1.6 download
  • Made sure the shop domain and SSL domain matched (there is no www in the url)
  • Turned off SEO friendly URLs
  • Reinstalled the blockcart module
  • Turned on/off ajax in blockcart module
  • A fresh install on a new directory with the custom theme installed works perfect :(

I'm all out of ideas, if everyone can help, it will be much appreciated! Thank you in advance!

 

I could not resolve the problem so I reinstalled the theme and the whole database onto a fresh 1.6.0.6 and restarted. I'm just hoping it doesn't happen again. If anyone still has this problem, please feel free to continue posting on this thread.

I have a similair problem on PrestaShop 1.5.6.1.

Randomly customers face an empty shopping cart.

Whats the point of having a shop if people cant buy?

 

I have traced version back over 2 years and its still similair problems,

why not make a version where its working well?

Thanks for your reply. We have only guest inlog, so its no problems with the login, its difficult to say how often it happens, but we get ceveral emails daily from customers which means there are tons of people who never send us an email. And i have experienced it a few times myself, specially if i use a VPN tunnel and i normally use IE.

If i delete all cookies then it works.

We have tried to ask people to delete cookies, but most people dont even know what a cookie is, or even less that it something that can be deleted.

And its not that the shopping basket gets empty, when people add products, its full and works perfectly, but when clicking "proceed to checkout" and arrives inside the basket, then its empty, while going back to products, then its full again and so on.

I was thinking of upgrading, but i can read the problem is there for people on the 1.6 as well.

Any ideas? I appreciate all input, thank you.

Sounds like you're having cookie issues. Do you also have problems logging in once the cart gets emptied?

 

Hi, thanks for replying! Nope, no problems logging in.

I have this problem! Tried everything you did and still problem persists!

Are you having trouble logging in as well? Or cart only? Using ajax or non-ajax cart? Try the non-ajax if you're using the dynamic version (disable from modules->blockcart->configure)
