Major Issues Since Upgrade

Hi

 

I was hoping someone might be able to help me please. Since the upgrade of my shop to version 1.6 I have had nothing but trouble, I have managed to sort quite a lot of problems but I still have some which are causing me to keep my shop offline.

 

I was hoping someone might be able to help me resolve these issues.

 

At the moment my main issue is tax, since the upgrade tax hasnt calcuated correctly. I narrowed the problem down to carrier selection, settings were changed and now it calculates tax but in the back office this doesnt show (screen shot tax1) instead it shows the same price as the pre-tax price. Within each product tax is selected but there is no difference between pre-tax retail and retail price with tax. (screen shot tax2)

 

The other problem I have is the customer services tab at the top of the page. When I login I can see x amount unread, I answer them and log out. When I log back in it shows the same amount unread and when I click into messages I dont have any. Clearing the cache seems to fix this but I have to do this every time I want to refresh the page (screen shot cust)

 

Can anyone help please I am at my wits end with the tax issue, my site has been down for 4 weeks now and I am starting to loose a lot of business.
