Has anyone found a good workaround?

OK bootstrap theme subcategory images-

I have manipulated an image to 870 x 217 and when you open the subcategory where you have the long description it now look ace!!!

However when you see the original sub category list the image looks small and really unprofessionally poxy!

How can one look great and the other look crappy.

Any good solutions?

Link to it looking crappy;

Its the product called Colourworks, now click on it and you will see it looks great!

Hope someone can help?

subcategories pictures (thumbs) use this image type: medium_default

natural image size of medium_default is 125 x 125

it's not proportional to 870 x 217

if you want nice medium_default image, it must be proportiona to 870 x 217

Hi Vekia, thanks for reply but you are missing my question.

I know thumbs are 125x125 and those look fine. However when you click on the thumb to go to that subcategory the image stays in the middle of the image box and with a different colour background and the image description written over it, it looks rubbish.

If you look at prestashops demo site you will see that the subcat picture has been changed to 870 x 217 same as mine and it looks great, However even on the demo site the resulting thumbnail looks too small and rubbish.

I guess what I want is the correct size thumbnail 125x 125 and the 870 x 217 for sub cat description image?

Check out the demo site and you will see what I mean!

Kind Regards,
lee

I think I understand your issue and employed a work around on my site.

when you generate the category images PS creates several different versions of the same category image. There are 3 different files created: default, medium, and large. This may change depending on the choices you make in the image setup so I will just describe my setup and I think it will be understandable.  All the image files are stored in /img/c/

The file loaded for the top of the category page is

[replace with cat id]-category_default.jpg  (example: 6-category_default.jpg).

The image file used for subcategory thumbs is [replace with cat id]-medium_default.jpg ( Example: 6-medium_default.jpg).

The solution. Create an image for the larger context and create new image that is 125 X 125 for the subcategory thumbs. Simply rename them as the medium file for each category. Now, the different image files can be shown in each context.

See the attached images for bracelets for help.

HELP, I am having a sizing issue with thumbnails as well. Still have sizing issue of the box that the thumbnail is contained in.

http://www.nantucketmarket.com/marketstore/36-vegetables

I tried to set 125 by 125 and it was only coming up as a slit in the middle of the box, i thank you for the information to resize to be proportional to 870x217, but now the box itself is like 51 px high. How do i fix??

I'd like my subcategories to look like this one:
