Problem Installing New Theme in Prestashop 1.6.06

Recommended Posts

I am not able to install a new theme into v1.6.06.  I tried installation through the "Add New Theme" button.  I am able to see the thumbnail pic of the new theme  (only two themes avail at this moment is the default and the new theme) and I select the new theme and click "Save".  Then the next page goes blank white and nothing happens.  I installed it two different ways as suggested in a previous posting with a similar problem and neither worked.

Tried both:

"Install from your Computer" and "Import from FTP" methods and neither worked, even after refreshing cache.

Can anyone help me figure this out?

hen the next page goes blank white and nothing happens

blank page = errors

turn on error reporting, then instead of blank page you willl see detailed information about what and where doesnt work well.

Hi Vekia,

Thank you for your help.  I am getting another error when I got to Modules>Modules

[PrestaShop] Fatal error in module revsliderprestashop:
require_once() [function.require]: Failed opening required '__DIR__/revprestashoploader.php' (include_path='.:/usr/lib/php:/usr/local/lib/php')

I'm assuming this is also caused by the Revolution Slider.  I will contact the theme developer and module developer.  Thank you.

Are you purchase revolution with separately. If so them please asked your support system with purchase code. The issue is for php 5.2

Our current version 4.2.3 have version compatible problem solved. It work fine and that error show our first release on revolution. If you are using any premium theme which using our revolution slider . Please contact with theme developer to include slider revolution 4.2.3 version on there theme.

4.2.3 version is full compatible with multistore, multilanguagle some fixing for 5.2 php version.

Thank you Vekia and SmartDataSoft.

I purchased a Premium Theme that includes the Revolution Slider.  I'm not sure which version they have included.  I have contacted the theme developer, but they are slow to respond.  Making me regret that I purchased their theme.

Thank you for helping me pinpoint the problem.

Dear All,

Please check if php 5.3 is running. If needed please give entry in .htaccess file for the same.

Check with your hosting service provider.

For hostgator the entry is

Action application/x-hg-php53 /cgi-sys/php53
AddHandler application/x-hg-php53 .php

Please try the same.

Awaiting your reply

do not need to check from other. You can check your shop details environment from prestashop inside.

Prestashop admin-> Advanced Parameters ->Configuration Information

You are able to view full information server php, database and other information.

Hello!
[i've also purchased a premium theme, and my theme's developer is (as I found out the hard way) famous for the veeeery delayed answers. They offer installation services, so could I suppose that is the reason why the theme cannot even be installed with prestashop's three ways!!! (Of course is just an assumption.) But I'm afraid this is considered very unprofessional.
Also the developer doesn't reply in public questions but with two phrases: 1) I'll contact you ASAP and 2) Open a ticket. (for which you spend 3 days waiting between EVERY answer), So it's impossible to find any help from other users. (But the theme is gorgious, anyway.) ]

Does anyone can give me any idea how to install a theme with modules?
My server has PHP v. 5.2.
I haven't face the issue for Revolution Slider yet, as installation has never be completed.
But after many tries I had all the above mentioned problem with white screen, so I even re-installed whole PS from the begining, and loosing everything I had finished til now.
(This is my 3rd PS eshop, and for 1st time I face such issue. I admitt though I'm not a developer, just a user).
Thanks for any kind help, or even advise, or anything. (I still hope I didn't loose my small available budget for my business.)

@Puriom

First of all you want to tell us which theme are using. Is that theme use revolution slider. Revolution first version 4.2.1 have some issue for Php 5.2 after that we have fix that issue. Now it work in all server and all PHP 5.2 and 5.2+

So i suggest you to enable the debug mode. Vekia's blog have a article how to enable that. Then you can post the error. we will try to help you.

I think your theme may have the old version of revolution. Not sure.

Thank you very much for your answer. (I didn't mentioned the name of the theme - as I though it would be bad for the developer - I can tell in private message, though).
As my PHP v is (in PS Backoffice is mentioned so) v5.2.17, should I ask from my hosting company to updade to php 5.x (?!). I doubd they would do it just for me.
First I have to resolve the very basic installation issue.
I've spent about 6 hours, with no success. :(

PS.: Can I update the slider myself? Is there a way?

Of course it's OK! No problem. As soon as I'll have the theme installed (shall I ever???) I'll let you know. Thank you very much!!!

Any idea how to install a theme without an xml file in it's zip installation file?

at first upload your zip file in modules\themeinstallator\export folder then you will find in your theme installer area in prestashop admin to install that.

Or you can do manually install upload the full theme and all module then install theme install module and view your theme's documentation how the module possition work. If you are not able to do so. You can hire a freelancer from Prestashop paid section with low cost to install that.

Which will save your site. If theme developer take lots of time to answer.
