New way to install theme

Recommended Posts

Hello.

There is new way appears in prestashop 1.6 to install themes, and I think it's a necessary feature.

But I have an issue with that installer.

My theme comes with additional modules, and some of that modules uses his own custom hooks.

After theme installation all modules are installed, and custom hooks created, but there is no nodules in custom hooks.

I have tried to generate theme archive and in "Theme installer" module and through new "Export" feature in the "Themes" section of back office.

When I use "Theme installer" module to install a theme, it works correctly. So I suppose it's an issue with new feature.

I need an advice how to make it work.

Hi Marek,

you are right, I have the same issue. This is show stopper for advanced themes :-(

We can't use old theme installer module - first it's not in module list anymore so you would have to instruct customers to download it somewhere and also this old module doesn't cover new column setup feature and doesn't save config.xml to your /config/themes/ folder.

I think you will not solve such things on forum but have to report it here http://forge.prestashop.com

I found a ticket that seems to be the same issue, but it was closed :-( Please check: http://forge.prestashop.com/browse/PSCSX-1407

I'm going to play with config.xml as suggested. Please let me know if you find anything, I will write it here too.

I voted for the issue too.

For my latest theme I solved it by removing the hook position with custom hook from config.xml. I have only one custom hook in that theme so for now it was good solution - installer installed the module and the position didn't matter in that case. But for future themes, I'm going to need it too.

You are right, but what you offer? to create 10 new posts with the same text? I used "up" to make my topic visible on the first page, because in other case nobody will read it.

I just need a reply from prestashop stuff that my ticket is assigned and someone will help me.

Creating a new post would be better. After the 5th "up" the thread is tasting like cold coffee nobody is interested in. This is probably not the right place for getting the attention of the developers. And if you want the attention of the developers you would need votes for your ticket. So it would be more productive to explain why users should vote for your ticket and link to it (in a new thread). Endless ups are rather nerving than creating interest.
