msp1982dk
Hi, I'm new to PrestaShop and have just begun setting up my store. After a lot of trial and error (which have led to several complete reinstallations of PrestaShop) I have decided that I want a development/test version running on my local machine. Now, my question is not how to install the webserver and PrestaShop locally. But rather how I keep the two installations in sync on a feature-only base. I have read several tutorials on how to upload the folders and export/import the database. But if I import the entire database from my development shop won't that destroy any orders, products, customers etc created since the last copy of the production version? How do you guys handle this issue? Or am I missing something? /Martin
vekia
But if I import the entire database from my development shop won't that destroy any orders, products, customers etc created since the last copy of the production version? yes, you will overwrite database, so you will affect orders, products etc. the question is what you want to change locally? if theme only, it's not necessary to export db from local installation
msp1982dk
Hi Vekia, Thanks for your reply! Well, from the top of my head: Theme Translations Zones, Countries, States Payment & Delivery options New modules / changes to existing modules
vekia
Theme, translations you can export without exporting database, these two things are a part of filesystem only, nothing more
