Truncate short describtion with words instead of chars

Does anybody know how to truncate short describtions with words instead of chars?

Hi,

I want to truncate short describtions with example first 10 full words.
"Our sweater is very very nice and warm for winter" (read more button)

instead of using "Our sweater is ve..." (read more button) because its odd ;/

I think the unique way is creating a new php function, other words, a modifier in smarty, check this out: http://www.smarty.net/docsv2/en/plugins.modifiers.tpl
