Varnish 4.0 & Prestashop 1.6

Recommended Posts

Varnish cache 4.0 has been launched

This amazing cache system will boost your platform

I used it in the release 3.0 sucessfuly

Does anyone has sucessfuly test it (release 4) with Prestashop 1.6 ?

Could you provide us your VCL File(s) ?

For instance, how to manage the fact to don't cache pages if a customer is connected.

i don't find a specific cookie ...

Cheers,

JP

I have yet to test the new release out, but I would suggest never caching pages, you are just asking for problems. Use an opcode cache and you will get varnish like speeds because your php will be served from memory. I would just use varnish to cache static resources.

I am looking into how we as shop owners can manage varnish from PrestaShop.

The existing vcl management is to complex for 99% of shop owners but hosting is rolling it out as we now are seeing more and more 'I saved it, but when I return it's not there posts).

Looks pretty straight forward and I was looking for something new to do other than buying more fishing gear.

sure 'el patron' !

however, i try to work on basis ..

have a look here : http://www.prestashop.com/forums/topic/334294-varnish-4/?hl=%2Bvarnish

yes, I can see where you are active in working with varnish.

the issue I see is that 99% of people do not have access/knowledge of varnish or sudo/vim etc.  hosting companies are rolling out varnish and this impacts shops running in those environments.

so having some sort of back office control (curl to varnish) is something I have been looking at out of interest.  Personally for my own purposes I would not use it but php cache which seems more transparent and no configuration headaches.

I can't see how it would work to be honest. I wouldn't think companies like Gandi.net would be running varnish from the usual location and would maybe even be running a custom version. Generally I think low of hosting companies that run it, simple because it is a PITA most of the time.
