Add images categories in HomePage

I want to show category images like in subcategories, in the top of home page

 

It's possible?

I only view the images if I select a category, I view his subcategories, but I want show images of the principal categories in the home page

by default it's not possible,

what if some subcategory will have subcategories? how to display the menu then?

My structure is:

 

Category Home

• Categroy A
  • Subcategory A.1
  • Subcategory A.2
  • Subcategory A.3
• Category B
  • Subcategory B.1
  • Subcategory B.2
  • Subcategory B.3
• .........

I want to show an image of each categroy A,B,C.... in the top of home page and when you clic in each category go to this category with his subcategories. Like in the left column show a name of categories, show an image in the top (the same design like shows the subcategories)
