TicTacArea
Hello, We are long time dealing with Google. Some moduled have been instaled from Changeo and some others as Prestapricing so we modded tags, but it has been several months fighting with this duplicated data you can see in the attached picture. Anyone can help us out to solve it?. Our presta ver. is 1.5.6 Thanks. Edited April 16, 2014 by TicTacArea (see edit history)
vekia
where you've got those duplicated meta tags?
Dh42
Duplicated meta tags is not so much of an issue. It just depends on where they are duplicated and which page is taking precedence. Also, duplicate content penalties do not include meta tags.
TicTacArea
Thank you for your answers. We are quite lost, because we do not know what these messages at webmaster tools refer to. That is what we want, and need to fix (think so). Thanks.
Dh42
Are you using Presto-Changeos duplicate url redirect? I looked at your webmaster tools and the duplicate issues are because of products that are in multiple categories.
TicTacArea
Yes, we are using Presta changeo duplicate url redirect. Is that a bad thing? Should I use some module to avoid crawling some categories?, I mean use the no follow for the subcats and let the crawlers only trace the main categories?. Dh42
No not at all, just curious. I would hand write redirects for those pages if it was me.
TicTacArea
We can not do so, we are not using htaccess and if we should have to do about 5000 one by one............. I saw a module that lets you limit the crawlers action to the categories you want. Do you think this would be good for this ?. Thanks. TicTacArea
This is the module I am talking about http://presta-seo.fr/boutique/no-index-premium/ I'd rather purchase it, but we are tired spending money here and there with not really good results. Dh42
I personally would not use that. You might contact presto-changeo and ask them if the duplicate url redirect is working correctly and show them a screenshot of your GWT with the duplicate urls. cosmin.ignea
Hi. One month ago I've got same problem... Not thousands of duplicate errors, just 6-700. I use this module http://addons.prestashop.com/en/seo-prestashop-modules/11399-301-302-303-url-redirects-seo.html and now everything is ok. But, I've wrote every link manually... Sorry for my bad english...

john2
You can check your duplicate data in google search, put your some data in quotes and press enter. If it shows no match found then it is unique otherwise show the same data at other sites.

Cooltights
I have bought a module, that allows me to add canonical tags to all my products and so on. That have cleared all my problems
TicTacArea
It not only may take week, but months. Our problem was mainly on our server. We have got thousand of problems, first we moved from one service provider to another, finally we invested in creating a perfect enviroment (server) for Prestashop. Now we do not have that kind of problems any more and our positions are recovering day by day. Our website , now can stand hundreds of sim. conns., loads fast, is stable....... Simply perfect for Prestashop. It took us one year to get there, but now we are.
