how to point domains to the right multi store?

I know that a lot is written about urls and multistore. So I have done a lot of reading but....ending up crying that I can't get it work.

 

First some basics:

Main webshop: www.oopsee.co.nz

Like to add another webshop: www.marmis.co.nz

 

Both are 2 seperate websites but are hosted by 1 main domain: www.marmis.net

 

So the problem here is that if I follow the instructions from prestashop and I park "www.marmis.co.nz". All will be going back to www.marmis.net

So how can I get it to be pointed to www.oopsee.co.nz

I have tried several options, but probably I am doing something wrong as I can't get it working

 

What do I need to do at my hosting company or....do I need to something completely different (and go to my domain registrar) ?

and what do I need to fill in prestashop url - multishop (as shown attached)

the rule of thumb for two major hosting account types

 

cpanel = park to main domain

pleask = alias to main domain

 

of course you need to change the name servers of new domain to ns.newdomain.xxx ns1.newdoamin.xxx (this after alias/park)

I have Cpanel

I have parked the 2nd domain

all is going to my main account (which has a seperate website too)

 

Some facts:

main account: marmis.net -- with his own website, totally seperate from presta shop

 

on this main account I have a couple of add on domains

one of this is www.oopsee.co.nz...this oopsee is the main presta shop

 

At this stage I like to add a new website to the multishop. I have parked that webdomain

all it is doing now if I type www.marmis.co.nz it will go to the main account which is www.marmis.net and NOT www.oopsee.co.nz

 

You mention that I need to park the maindomain ???? which is www.marmis.net this will result in the fact that I loose this website or do you mean that I need to park www.oopsee.co.nz (the main prestashop domain)

you park/alias 2nd...nth domains to your main domain in PrestaShop...I did not say park main domain to anything...

Finally found out what the problem was.

You can't install a multi shop on a addon domain. It needs to be installed on the main domain of your host and from there on you can follow the rules with parking and so on.

 

I still haven't got my shops 100% working. But this topic can be closed.

how does this work with DirectAdmin and FreshDNS?

 

 

 

I have a main domain with the prestashop installation MAINDOMAIN.COM

I have used a pointer to point DOMAIN2.COM (new domain) to MAINDOMAIN.COM.

 

The result is that when a visitor goes to DOMAIN2.COM, he will end up on MAINDOMAIN.COM

 

What i would like to see is that a customer who visits DOMAIN2.COM, will see DOMAIN2.COM as url.

 

Is that possible?

It should be working if you follow the instructions for setting up a multishop and park DOMAIN2.COM

and set the domain settings to domain2.com
