.CSV import category's

Recommended Posts

Hello all.

New to prestashop and I like it very much. I have about 3000 products to import to my site so I am using a .csv. All is working fine so far (haven't tried all the fields) but the products wont drop into their appropriate category's. In my .csv file I have tried to use the category ID, no luck. Tried to use the category name in caps, no luck. In lowercase, no luck. as exact match to my category's, No luck. Instead each time they all just drop in the HOME category. I dont really want to go into 3000 individual products and drop them into the correct category.

Any help with this would be great. Any need for Screen shots or my File to check Let me know and I can attach

Ok the principle i understand, in example 1 product 100 & product 101 both drop into category 3 by means of using category ID & category name. so either will work.

Now I have tried using only category name, then I tried using only category ID. Finally I have tried using a mixture on the top few items of my .csv and still no joy.

Maybe it is in the settings I select prior to allocating columns;

Delete all products before import?           checked box yes

Use product key as reference?                 left unchecked... not sure what this does

Force all ID during import                         checked yes.

These are my errors
