Whole Shop Sale Conundrum

I am trying to figure out how to apply a % discount across whole of shop with prices shown marked down (Original crossed out to show reduction). I would like to do this without need for customer to have to click on voucher in Cart like with Cart Rules. I have tried with Catalog rules but that doesn't seem to work at all when add all categories and sub-categories to a condition (Unless have to do one condition for each category because multiples are 'and' which may mess it up.

Slight update. Only way I can get discount to show under Catalog rules is to add each lowest sub-categpry individually as new condition to the rule, one entry in each condition. That's mad and very long winded.

 

Also reduced prices don't show in home featured module on the front page
