I have a csv file with car brands (audi, vw, bmw, seat, fiat, etcetera) that file has a field with ID, another one with name... At the another hand I have too all models belong to categories, per example. A8, A6 (Audi), M3, M6 (BMW) Well I need import all that but I don't know how do it and i don't know where, if in categories or in manufacturers. Could somebody explain me it a little bit? Thanks a lot!!
wjq588jk
i think you'd better create the categories by manual and the products by csv,and this is usually not make the errors
HavanA
I did something similar. You could try prestashop store manager (they offer a full fuctional 30 day trial). With that software you can import your categories and subcategories as .csv. In the "category name" field you fill in like: Root|Home|Mercedes Root|Home|Mercedes|CLK Root|Home|Mercedes|CLK|270CDi This example above here would create a Mercedes category, with a subcategory CLK and that with a subcategory 270CDi If you're handy with excel (but better use Open Office calc, because you need to save your csv as UTF-8), you can pretty fast copy-and-paste parts of your categories and uploading it will be easy. It also has a possibility to link products to categories easy and fast. Of course, make a backup of your database before uploading, just in case.
