Admin Total Implosion (Blank Page Fatal Error)

I read all the relevant posts I could find before posting here, but nothing seems to help.

 

I activated the carrier compare module, then immediatly disabled catalog mode. After hitting save to disable catalog mode, I was greeted with a nice persistent blank page instead of my admin panel. With debugging enabled, the system spit out the following error(s).

1. I double checked the first exception and found that my header.tpl matches the stock header.tpl.

2. Read somewhere about disabling smarty however my database does not have ps_smarty

Please close, the issue was resolved by reverting to PHP 5.2
