Phone number box shows a field label of Mobile phone

When a customer makes a new account they it has 2 boxes for phone number - mobile hone and home phone. The mobile phone box is starred red. However, if the customer does not enter anything in the hoe phone box, , but does enter something in the mobile phone box (which is red starred) it says "there is an error - phone required.

 

I would like to remove the mobile phone box altogether, but it is starred. How duo I instal and remove it altogether, so customers are only asked for one phone number.

Same problem here with with Guess Checkout, Only a field for Mobile Phone is listed (and required field) in the "Instant checkout" window. Then, when you click on the "Proceed to checkout" button, you get an error saying that "phone is required."???

 

Any ideas on how to fix this?
