Managing Order History Messages / Comments

I don't even know what to call this feature cuz it's not a module - but I'm talking about the "message" features built into My Account / Order History history.php & order-details.tpl (I think)

On our live site, customers have been sending messages, but we do not receive them. They can only be seen by clicking on each individual order and checking if there is something in the "Messages" section in bottom left.

Where can we configure the employee recipient(s) of messages sent through the history page? Is it suppose to use the settings here? Back Office >> Employees >> Contacts

Right now from the customer side, if you enter an order message, it seems to get in the database, but you get the message, "Error: mail parameters are corrupted"


We receive and can configure order & payment "notifications" just fine and "messages" sent from the back office are sent/delivered ok.

We have been getting "New Order Alerts" just fine (which is what the Mail Alerts module seems to configure).

What I'm talking about are messages sent by customers from history.php - Please see bottom of the attached image. We didn't even know the feature existed until the store was running for a month or two.
