weasel69
My site was working perfectly fine ... I logged into the backend and saw a few module to be updated, so I updated them all without any problems, but now when going to my site my homepage is completely blank Please help Edited March 23, 2014 by weasel69 (see edit history)
vekia
if you still use 1.5 and updated these modules, i've got bad news. almost each update will not work in 1.5 due to the differencies in the core classes. more info: http://www.prestashop.com/forums/topic/317315-updated-new-modules-updates-22-03-2014-for-15-are-broken/
weasel69
Anyway of rolling back the update? Or would it work if I upgrade my site to 1.6 now?
Krystian Podemski
Shame on you PrestaShop Team. I once threw them modifications which prevented updates productcomments because it was not compatible, why nobody did this for the other modules? Completely irresponsible behavior. What you can do now? Download PrestaShop from here: https://github.com/PrestaShop/PrestaShop-1.5/archive/master.zip and replace all modules files. Krystian Podemski
I notice that even if we disable "Auto updating module", alert about updating modules is still visible. Looking at how many critical things came out in the last few weeks probably PrestaShop should make 1.5.6.3...
vekia
it's because xmls with information about updates were downloaded before you switched this option to no, remove these files from config/xml/ and notifications will disappear, and files will not be downloaded anymore (if you disabled option to inform about updates)
weasel69
Can't remember all, I just went down the list and updated ... a dew I can remember is Block advertising Categories block CMS Block Data mining for statistics Image slider for your homepage Layered navigation block Manufacturers block Shipping Estimate Top horizontal menu Can I just download Krystian's master file and overwrite my files on my domain? ... would there have been database changes as well? Krystian Podemski
Yes, I know. But we know this because we studied it, but what normal users must do in such a situation ? They will not know about it. Can I just download Krystian's master file and overwrite my files on my domain? ... would there have been database changes as well? You have to uninstall, remove and then install the old ones. Edited March 23, 2014 by Krystian Podemski (see edit history)

Krystian Podemski
You know what? Even this does not help, the option from settings is not taken into account when checking for updates and deleting xml files helps only to the next refresh ... weasel69
yes you can, but overwrite only modules that you upgraded, no core etc. No need to uninstall the current version first? When doing the updates from the Modules in the backend, is it only files thats copied across? No database changes? if so, I can maybe just ask my hosting company to restore all files from backup? vekia
Krystian, take a look how it works in 1.6, if an update of module is available to download - you have to update it, you can't even "configure" module, because instead of configure button you will see... update it! thanks god that it doesn't work like that in 1.
weasel69
Krystian, which version Prestashop is that in your master file? I'm on 1.5.6.2 would your files still work?
Krystian Podemski
oh come on! what they did I have not tested the new version too well but I'm afraid it's buggy, because in the RC version I saw a lot of mistakes that are probably still here, but I'm not going to use their Forge, if they enable issues on github then I'm back to help them Krystian, which version Prestashop is that in your master file? I'm on 1.5.6.2 would your files still work? This is official repo and the latest PrestaShop 1.5, modules from this package must work fine. mreisbeck
Damn... Seriously, someone from PrestaShop team who doesn't think about old version should get a bad punch in the face. Please. don't spoil my day with verbal violence. Just think about, that you don't pay a penny for the programmers work. You are using other peoples time. So you have to deal with their faults as well. You don't have not a right to complain about. But you can help to find out, what is screwed up. vekia
They (prestashop team) fixed problem. http://forge.prestashop.com/browse/PSCFV-11886 so, modules for prestashop 1.5 will not be developed anymore, and 1.5 goes into oblivion - sad, but true but... to be honest, it's time to disable automatic updates option to prevent future problems
