Is PS 1.5 not updated anymore?

Recommended Posts

I'm happy to see that 1.6 is finally out. And by writing this, I don't mean to be disrespectful against the Prestashop Team in any way!

However, I think it was too quick to release a 1.6 version of Prestashop, when 1.5 still have a lot of unresolved bugs.

So for us who have been patiently waiting for 1.5 to be "complete" without bugs - are we done waiting? Will there be no more bug-fixes for 1.5.6.x?

I feel that 1.5 is not yet completed - for instance there is many errors with core mods / payment modules. Try installing the "Klarna module for prestashop 1.5" (a core module), or try using the product "pack" feature. Not working very well at all...

And then "Here is the release of 1.6" - which seems to be very much like the release of 1.5 some time ago. Lots of bugs..

When Prestashop is built around modules and themes, you must take this into consideration when people are experiencing problems, and not just say "Hey, this is not a clean install, you don't use our native theme and you have installed other modules - of course your shop isn't working".

The whole meaning of prestashop is the modules and themes selection, and core-modules should be working out-of-the-box on current version, before you start spending resources on making a new and greater version.

It feels like PS 1.6 is a result of an "internal" competiton against other cart-softwares! "Who will be there first"-sort of competition. And this is not the way to please your existing users.

This is not a Coke vs. Pepsi kind of deal - this is peoples businesses!

I would love to hear something from the Prestashop Team about this.

Still 1.5.6.2 is not good enough out of the box - when can we start trusting 1.6?

My prediction is that in some time from now, the 1.6.x.x will be out, and then suddenly you will release the news of the best PS - version to date: "PS 2.0".

Stop working on new "great" versions, when there are still unresolved bugs in the current prestashop-version, and start focusing on making a GREAT software even better by bugfixing CURRENT features, and not come up with new all the time.

Prestashop really is a GREAT cartsolution, no doubt about it - but it is really annoying when small things doesnt' work.
