Setting three levels of shipping!

Hello all

 

I want to set three levels of shipping prices but I don't want the customer to be able to select it I want it to work on price or I could use weight on some level. It can be all same shipper or not just (ex. $0-$7.99=$3.95...$8.00-$39=$7.95...$39-up=Free). I have a running site and I worry when I change things I will lose orders so I'm real slow to to just change things. I have tried to do this but the best I could do is set up three prices but the customer needed to change the setting in the cart. I'm running 1.4.6.2 I have done a lot of custom work so I can't upgrade.Any help would be appreciated.

 

Update I got it done was easier then I thought. Just made three different price ranges under same shipper. You must over lap end of one price range because it includes starting price but excludes ending price.
