mundoreballing
Hello everyone ! I would like to introduce myself. My name is Felipe (Philip) and I'm from the beautiful country "Chile". First of all, some introduction. My business website ( www.mundoreballing.cl ) it's based on wordpress . I want to migrate to prestashop, and for this I created a folder inside public_html called "TIENDA", so prestashop was installed in www.mundoreballing.cl/store It was all going well until I came down a new theme (Simple Responsive Theme 1.5x ) . I downloaded, installed and activated it . The problem is that when I went to the store, and check any product, the main picture did not look , and instead of it, it shows a white box with an X in the middle. That is, something strange that had the theme , therefore I decided to return to the DEFAULT theme that cames installed on prestashop . I uninstalled the theme (Simple Responsive Theme 1.5x ) and come back to activate the "ON MOBILE THEME" because i had to deactivated by the responsive theme that was installed. Now i check my store, and it looks like this photo: What could be the problem? In advance thank you very much for the help. It is a very good tool prestashop . I hope soon to have my store running at 100 %. Greetings from Chile, Felipe
vekia
you have to reconfigure whole shop modules section, because simple responsive theme changed module files, and module settings. what to do? you have to import default theme, in exactly the same way as you importet simple responsive theme. there is no other way, ... or just reinstall entire shop.

vekia
yes, this is why it's better to reimport default theme (theme with its settings) switching theme in preferences its not enough in this case

Some alternative way to test new themes?
vekia
unfortunately, yes. It's because many developers creating an overrides of original modules, so after upload they will not work as they work before. It's not because of prestashop, but because of developers. it's always worth to backup data before uploading new theme, or export theme that you use (with all modules)
mundoreballing
To reimport the "DEFAULT THEME" i have to ZIP the folder "DEFAULT" inside of folder "PRESTASHOP -> THEMES" and then upload with the module "ThemeInstallator" ?? How i reimport the default theme?
vekia
no, you have to export theme with "theme installator" module http://addons.prestashop.com/en/front-office-features-prestashop-modules/1713-template-installer.html you have to export theme from clean prestashop installation after that you can import this theme to your actual prestashop

So this step is ok. If i export the "default theme" from my actual prestashop store, it will export theme with errors. Really i don't understand why i have to export instead of import the default theme (clean one). i can't understand =(
vekia
you have to export it from clean installation (not from actual because it's damaged) then you have to import it to actual shop. why? simple question: from where you want to download clean default theme? this package just doesnt exist anywhere, this is why you have to export it first on your own

musicmaster
The problem you had with the images was very likely very simple to solve: by regenerating the images. Some themes have their own image formats and those need to be generated first.

musicmaster
Go to Preferences -> Images in the PS menu and scroll down. There you will find a section dedicated to regenerating images.
