How to delete some fields from guest checkout and user registration ?

Hello

I want to remove some fields like VAT number Birthday from Guest check out and user registration how can do it i have tried by editing my theme " authentication.tpl " file but failed to do it can anyone please help me with this. Here is my authentication.tpl codes below, please tell me which code should i comment to do this both in guest check out and user registration an example of removing field will be great.

OK lets start with the User registration VAT and Birthday fields, First in the BO go to Localization, Countries and edit your Country and change - Do you need a tax identification number - to NO. (this will remove the tax number field)

Now for the Birthday, here we will need to edit the authentication.tpl file and remove a section, look to line 547 this should be the start of the section containing the birthday field in user registration page.

You can delete lines 547 - 581 as shown below.

For bringing time to solve this, Thanks a lot. It works, but one more thing i commented that line which you told to delete you know this works but i also want to remove vat number field i commented this lines but still appears will you please help me with this. Also there are tow fields for first name and last name why, if i remove one of them where will it impact. Again thanks a lot you saved me.

You will need to leave this section as is as it is there for a reason. The first section actually stores the name in the database and the second is for delivery.

I was wondering if anyone else had a problem with the city and ZIP after they deleted the date of birth?

Bump - I've searched ton of topics about how to remove required fields from registration form - no luck - all topics either locked by moderators with no answer or are dedicated to 1.4 platform, while now we have 1.6. Anyone succeeded in this??

i got this from @vekia :

go to /classes/Customer.php and .tpl file and you will see : protected $fieldsValidate = array . remove any fields in the array you dont want mandatory
