New to prestashop, trying to upload theme

I've been searching around for weeks looking at options for an online shop for my website. I thought Prestashop looked like a good option, but I'm on the verge of giving up after 30mins!

 

I want to change the look of the shop, but rather than spend money on an expensive theme I thought I'd download a couple of free themes just to try out the modification process and see how I got on.

 

I've uploaded 2 themes, and my shop is currently displaying a mad jumble of all 3 themes (the default and the 2 I tried to upload). I tried to delete both themes to leave me with the default, and that won't even display properly any more - I have images left over from the 2 themes.

It now seems impossible to get any one theme to work, even when I choose 'use theme's configuration' when installing. All I get is a random jumble of mixed layouts and images.

 

I appreciate that Prestashop is free, but much like Wordpress I expected to at least be able to try out some free themes before deciding whether to buy a premium one.....

it's because with themes you also installed modules, and configured position of these modules etc.

after each theme upload all previous modules will not be uninstalled

you have to do this manually.

 

in addition, usually each module needs a configuration

so you have to configure these modules (like upload own picutres to slider etc.)

this is why you see mix of themes
