hippooflove
Hi All I currently use 1.4.11. This is not responsive etc. I am considering starting to build a new site with a version of 1.5. How easy is it to transfer product and customer details to the new site from the old to save me having to re enter everything. I have to say that I do not fully understand databases and any advice would be gratefully received. Barry
vekia
if i were you i will just upgrade to 1.5 why not?
tomerg3
Create a copy of the site, and use the Prestashop upgrade option (or copy over a new installation and run the installer to upgrade). You cannot simply copy the databases, as there are structure changes between versions.
hippooflove
Thanks for the replies. I cannot just upgrade as my theme is not suitable. I thought maybe it would be easier to start again. It looks as if that may be more problematic than I thought. Barry
NemoPS
But if you want to go for a blank 1.5, your theme would not be suitable either. You can change it after upgrading, seems the same to me!
hippooflove
No I realise that. That's why I want to build a new site using 1.5. Use a new template etc. As a non computer person, I wanted to know if I did all that can I transfer my customer and products to my new site to save having to add it all again manually. I will need to keep my old shop open as it is my living. Barry
NemoPS
You can try upgrading a clone on a test/local server But in the end you will need to perform the upgrade on the live as well. In the worst case, you can rollback, but anyway it might be shot down for 1 day max
hippooflove
I did try and upgrade and I lost everything. Luckily my host backups and was able to reload a copy. (phew). I will never do that again!!. I just keep reading that business improves if people can view via mobiles and tablets. Hence my thoughts on using a newer version. NemoPS
It depends on the business and target audience, but yes, the mobile market audience is increasing. You don't necessarily need to upgrade to 1.5 anyway, it would be enough to use a 1.4 compatible responsive theme
