Managing stock with an external program

I want to set up a new webshop but I just started using Prestashop. In my case, I have a program which controls our stock (done manually) and I would like to sincronize this stock manually updated with the stock from the products of Prestashop. This way, we do not have to update the stock twice for every change. I read this is possible but I do not know how and I see no option in the Stock configuration. I enabled "advanced stock management" and created a new warehouse (we have only one warehouse/shop). How can I do this?
