basic layout modifications, columns and colours

I haven' found a tutorial or a 3D for some elementary modifications. Some grid modifications 3Ds are contradicting and not really useful. I hope that starting a new 3D will help me and others:

 

1) in "default 3 columns theme", how to swap center and right column? Doing it in LiveEdit doesn't allow the big center column to move anywhere.

 

2) adding a background image but keeping the container background colour, and eventually its opacity? By adding an image it overwrites any #hex.

 

3) how to change the total width of the container in one clik, from 100% to 80%? Acting in the grid.css or global.css leads nowhere and messes up things.

Concerning the grid issue, inside grid_prestashop.css there are instructions to go to http://960.gs/ which generates a css according to one's choice of page width. Does it mean I can just copy-paste that code into grid_prestashop.css?

1) swap? you mean that you want now: |left|right|center| ? not as it is in default theme |left|center|right| ?

2) you're looking for sometihng like on my demo site: http://demo.mypresta.eu/en/ (background + white bg color for contents) 

3) you use default theme?
