modestmart
Hi All I have prestashop site at www.modestmart.com. Till last week it was working fine but all of sudden since last week it started running very slow, takes about 1min and 25sec. First I though that issue will be in server, so I called my hosting company (hostgator) but they told me that the issue is in caching. I turned off caching and site started working normal. I have checked this few times and issue does seems to be in caching. If I enable caching it slows down both front office and back office as well but work fine if I have caching off. I am stuck in this problem and not able to find the solution. Will appreciate any help. I have attached log generated when I set debug_profile and dev_mode to true. indus
You talking about the caching option at the bottom like memcached, APC ? Or prestashop cache which is the first option? Or the CCC options in the middle?
modestmart
Yes, I am talking about the caching option at the bottom that has options memcached, APC, File System etc. I have using File System.
indus
Leave it disabled. The File system cache does not work well, and in fact just like you mentioned, it actually slows down the loading speed of the page. It has never worked properly. Not for me at least. modestmart
ok, so I can assume that there is nothing wrong with my site. I was thinking problem is in my site as it was working fine before. Even after applying few custom updates, it was still working fine for few weeks but that all of sudden it started causing this issue therefore I thought problem could be in one of the update. You my friend are a lifesaver. For the past 10 days i had been trying to figure out why my test site running out of my local server had 10sec loading time when my production site worked really well. Thank you very much!!!

Hi, I've been trying to figure out why file system cache was terribly slowing down my site. I can't understand how the people who are responsible for prestashop can leave a function displayed, available to be activated, that will jeopardize the site's usability. Is there anybody responsible in there? Edited May 6, 2014 by PBo34 (see edit history)

PBo34
Advanced parameters -> performance -> bottom of page: cache It may not be the exact words as I have the French version.
