tztudio
My website is VEERRRRY slow. I have force compile off, cache on, CCC cache is on, as well as apache optimization. I've tried to disable modules that are not in use. Any ideas on what is causing my website to be so slow? InMotion is my hosting provider. My website is www.tstudiojewelry.com Thanks in advance for any advice. : )
Dh42
What kind of hosting do you have? Who is it with?
tztudio
My hosting provider is InMotion. When you say "what kind of hosting", what do you mean? I'm sorry, I am not a website designer or develper, I am amazed I was able to get it this far. Prestashop made it easy, loving it so far! (well, except for the fact it is slow.) Dh42
I meant do you have shared or VPS hosting.
tztudio
I'm not sure. How do I find out that information? I did recently purchase an SSL certificate, if that helps.
Dh42
Ok, which plan do you have?
tztudio
Before I redesigned my website with Prestashop, it was created with CoffeeCup software, and it was very fast. I never had a problem with it, and my hosting hasn't changed. The only difference is the new website with Prestashop. I have the Power Plan. Dh42
Pagespeed != slow site. It is looking like the server is taking too long to process. Do you know how to edit the files on the server?
tztudio
Yes, sort of. I know just enough to get myself into trouble : )
Dh42
Navigate in the files to the config/defines.inc.php file open it up, and edit the line that says define('_PS_DEBUG_PROFILING_', false); change the false to true, and let me know once it is changed. Dh42
Who makes the theme? Also do you have around 80k products in the shop?
tztudio
Template Monster makes the theme. I have 212 products right now. My total, once the website is finished, should be about 1,000.
tztudio
I do have a lot of 'attributes and values'. And lots of combinations. Would that make a difference?
Dh42
Hmm, something is up with the home featured module I am thinking. It is browsing too much of the database for what it is spitting out. Do you mind sending me your back office login through a personal message. I can see what the module is trying to do maybe. Also, I noticed that on the category pages the layered navigation is loading, are you using that anywhere on the site?
tztudio
How do I send you a personal message? I'm sorry, I do not know what "layered navigation" is : (
Dh42
Just click on my name and then then click send message in the next screen.
Dh42
The issue centered around the TM Featured Products module. It loaded data for all of the products associated with the "home" category, even though it only showed 8 products. So it was loading 150+ products on the initial page load. Dh42
One main think I see jumping out at me is that your page is 5.2 mb. You need to use scaled images for the product images on that page, you are using way too big of images. The images are 500 x 568, but displaying around 224 x 254. Also turn ccc on in your back office.
dbeezer99
Yes that is an issue i cant figure out and it a big issue casue I cant import items to ebay successfully because the images are displaying too small. I changed the image size for that reason but like you said they are displaying the size i changed them too. I wanted to change them just to upload to ebay then change them back but I cant figure out why they arent changing successfully. BY THE WAY THANK YOU SO SO MUCH FOR TAKING THE TIME TO HELP ME. I plan on hiring you guy to optimize my sight for SEO once I have some extra money!!
Dh42
What you need to do is make a special size for them in the back office that corresponds to the size the template needs. Then edit the product-list.tpl file to use that image class.
dbeezer99
Well I guess that is what im asking..I dont know how to "make them a special size" because when I change them in back office the changes look like they have taken but like you said they still display wrong??? My bounce rate is real high because my site is so slow..im very exited to get some help with this and fix it! You mentioned scaling the images..is that the solution and how do i do that. i read somewhere that I can use a software application to help with images??? dbeezer99
As you can see in the screen shot im having image issues in ebay. They need to be 500 x 500 and so i changed them but again no success: http://prntscr.com/2ph4ed
gabiatti
If anyone has problem with slow speed loading, try to disable the module "send to a friend" (I could not remember the name of the module).
