MORE issues with this package - ad infinitum!

Recommended Posts

This is reeeeaaalllly starting to get annoying.

I have 2 carriers with *identical* settings and only 1 shows up! I have deleted, redone, deleted, redone about 10 times.

I also noticed that the carrier index keeps incrementing on *edited* carriers. Why?

3 hours. No solution!

And that's just today!

Issues with carriers prior to today were Paypal guest checkout customers not getting carrier listings unless I had *guest* option enabled in carrier. This is despite me checking and double-checking in the BO that they were *customers*. What legacy variable is carrying the "visitor" status around for gods sake?

As for "free shipping!" in the Ajax cart! What coder chose to offer "free ship" on an unknown address/weight variant? What was he thinking?!

But that's not even the real problem....

Having to hack multiple modules to remove a silly design idea because of embedded string values in functions that do not read from a translation file are bad. I SHOULD have been able to change a SINGLE line in my trans file.

SHOULD being the operative word here. Solution. I killed the Ajax cart. No customer confusion and dropped carts now.

Someone seriously needs to learn about separation of data, design and function.

So much of this shop is bad to the core. As a veteran coder myself I am usually very, very gracious with so called "gratis" apps but given the amounts being asked for modules that seem to "fix" a lot of these issues I'm not so sure gracious would be a truthful line of thought to follow.

Dare I say it? Is there some kind of reluctance to fix some of these issues because there is commercial fix? Is that too impudent?

For truth, I was evaluating this with a mind to buy some very good modules I have tagged. I was on the switch to Prestashop for several of my customers but the problems just keep coming and coming and coming!!!

The problem I have here is can I trust the core code? THAT is the fundamental question here. Is it WORTH throwing money at multiple paid modules to make this work properly or am I going to be hacking at this everytime I get a customer/product/carrier with a different scenario?

My money pot is big but it got that way by being cautious on what I spend. I'm not about to waste a cent on a broken core.

That's my vent. Given the same issues are expressed over and over make me feel very comfortable in what I am saying - and asking.

Who and how - and for how long - is this being supported?
