proper table prefix

Recommended Posts

You are right, for security reasons it is suggested that you change the prefix, BUT as from my experience although you can change it when you are installing prestashop don't do it.

Reason: some external add-on developers are using ps as standard and when the module should extend a database table it will not find the table by delivering an error. It is than impossible to use the module. I personally had this problem on 2 bought modules.

Maintain original an better secure your server against stealing and intrusion. Not only the database, but also your FTP.

Hi not really, because the problem is developers not really knowing Prestashop and than coding based on what Prestashop suggests by default and never thinking that there is a possibility of change... If module is from Prestashop and developers selling on Prestashop addons Shop so you will have no problems, but there are several other developers not selling here, but on their own sites...

My problem was fixed quickly and for free because it was a developer selling here on addons shop. He also didn't considered the possibility to change the prefix.... Now he knows and will take this into consideration by further developments...
