sitegains
Hey folks, Can you help please? We are looking to: - Launch multiple sites offering the same products. - Each site is "ecommerce enabled". - We want one backend administration. - We need the ability to edit cats/products on a shop basis to avoid duplicate content. I found Multisite, but by the looks of it this just creates duplicate content and products across several domains. Is there a way around it? Or is there another module which enables us to do what we want? Many many thanks in advance... Jon
El Patron
for multiplexing same content without duplicate content you would: use only one gTLD (.com/.co/.net/etc) then you can use ccTLD's for 2nd-nth shops (someurl.fr for france) as an example. (multi-regional) you may also use ccTLD subdomains, fr.yourmainurl but this is not best solution. learn more: https://support.google.com/webmasters/answer/182192?hl=en https://support.google.com/webmasters/answer/1347922?hl=en so basically it's not PrestaShop that would cause duplicate content rather the webmaster doing it incorrectly.
sitegains
Thanks for the reply El, That is my point exactly. We want multiple gTLDs running off the same install of prestashop. Additionally we require the ability to edit each store seperatley and thus avoid duplicate content filtering. Thanks
El Patron
multishop from view of www each domain looks like independent domain. if you are already using multiple gTLD's with same content...then that is an issue that no cms (ps for example) can really help you with. there is loads of info about gTLD/ccTLD that you should review carefully and then act accordingly. "multishop from view of www each domain looks like independent domain." Good "if you are already using multiple gTLD's with same content...then that is an issue that no cms (ps for example) can really help you with." We are not? We are looking for a solution to prevent this from happening? "there is loads of info about gTLD/ccTLD that you should review carefully and then act accordingly." I know all about domains. Im still looking for a reply to the original question? Is it possible to run mulitple stores from one prestashop install with the ability to edit each store individually? Thanks
El Patron
waiting for reply to orginal question, let me google that for you. http://doc.prestashop.com/display/PS15/Managing+Multiple+Shops and if you know 'all' about domains and run multiple gTLD's with same content...you should learn more
sitegains
How does this (http://doc.prestashop.com/display/PS15/Managing+Multiple+Shops) answer the original question: I found Multisite, but by the looks of it this just creates duplicate content and products across several domains. Is there a way around it? Or is there another module which enables us to do what we want? Im not sure why you think I run multiple gTLDs with the same content? Is it not apparent by now that this is what I am trying to avoid?
sitegains
El I appreciate you taking the time to answer my question I really do, but every single one of your responses thus far has been irrelevant to the original question...?

WilsonEdwards
You can have multiple websites with same products and one administration, but the page layout of each website should be different. Their meta tags, title and content should be different from each-others. You can promote your every websites by this way.
El Patron
I am going to post this as last salvo here. using 1 gTLD and one or more ccTLD's will not create duplicate content. using multiple gTLD's will create duplicate content issue, period. there is NO need to do any meta/keywords etc....that is just incorrect. period. case closed. end of story...good day.
