DMG
Hi, I'm a developer that's recently taken over a project that's using prestashop 1.5.6.1. We had a client that's called and said a customer has an abandoned cart but the order is being still processed/charged on their card. I've done some research and i think it's a bug in the software itself so I've decided that an upgrade should work just fine. My question is, how simple is an upgrade to a newer version? Do i have to create completely new databases/tables or is it just a 1 click thing?

That said, as a developer I'm sure you know, make sure to copy the clients' store onto a test server to test the upgrade to prevent any downtime of the live store due to unforeseen issues. Make sure to have the latest version of the oneclick upgrade module. http://addons.prestashop.com/en/administration-tools-prestashop-modules/5496-1-click-upgrade-autoupgrade.html

benjamin utterback
No problem, one of the most gut-wrenching posts we see is where a user decides to use the AutoUpgrade module without confirming they have a working backup, and doing it on a live store. If they encounter problems, they are stuck trying to fix it while their live store is down! That's why it's safe and best practice to just copy your store and test the upgrade on a test server. Keep us posted, thanks.
