gozzapaul
Hi There, I have a prestashop store and the actual store is painfully slow (15 secs page load) but the back office is very quick? The prestashop is installed on its own dedicated server so I can't understand how the front is so slow while the back office is very quick? Is there something in the configuration that might be incorrect? Any ideas very welcome... URL: thecandyworkshop.com

El Patron
Please see the following, 20.18seconds during redirect seems to be the issue, I ran a dns check and included that report. This may be enough information to have your hosting company help with. http://screencast.com/t/m6aXPIClSZ
gozzapaul
I spoke to a developer today about this. He said that the redirect is not the issue (because if you use the full URL including the /en) it still has a 'wait' of 16 seconds. He suggested the issue may be the 'modules'? He used this: http://tools.pingdom.com/fpt/#!/ern5Ht/http://thecandyworkshop.com/en/ I personally do not think this is the issue and suggested it appears to be an issue caused when the browser requests information from the database - then the page hangs - then 16 seconds later displays? But what do I know...I think identifying this issue may be costly
El Patron
I would certainly be concerned with the dns issue. This is not a strong area for me...but until I got a clean dns report...I'd not be happy. http://screencast.com/t/m6aXPIClSZ I don't know who 'developer' is maybe he should joint the forum. the more the merrier! gozzapaul
Well the server company (very helpful tech) said: "As advised it would be best to have the DNS hosted on your server, as your site is already there. The best way to do this would be to copy the records from your Fasthosts entries and input them in Plesk - with this, it would mean that DNS would be customisable, as it is hosted on the server." I don't actually understand that too well but the developer said that the issue isn't DNS realted? He relpied with this: "Well we will take some measure to improve the speed of the website by adding the compression code for javascript, css and images. However there might be some issue/contingency with the code itself. I will check it on my local environment . In addition to that, we found lots of modules installed, this may be a big issue for load time, So please let me know the modules those are not necessary, so that I can uninstall/disable them." Again, I feel that I'm not getting a straight answer as to why there is a 16 second delay on loading a page. To be honest, it's making me head hurt! veetouine
Hello, i had the issue and just resolve it Page load veeeeery long, only on prestashop front office (other sites on the same server are fast, runing with joomla) My server is running with debian + ISPConfig Don't ask me for details, i just made a lot of tests, and this one worked instantly. Maybe it will not work with your own configuration. I changed rights and owners on my files and directories : files : chmod 664 instead of 644 directories : chmod 775 instead of 755 file and directories : chown group_createdby_ISPConfig:user_createdby_ISPConfig I think prestashop didn't have rights to modify the cache files, or something like that. Hope it will help Regards, Olivier Edited February 5, 2014 by veetouine (see edit history)
gozzapaul
A very good local developer solved this for me. The issue was a duplicate Paypal module (Paypal & Paypal Pro). He disabled the Paypal module and the site works amazingly quick. No idea why but at least it works!
