Can't install Product Comments module

I tried yotpo and really like it but i disabled it for now after reading how it sends emails to customers with review request. I will read more about it and see if it was fixed so i can enable it again.

we could kick this can and try to figure this out...

 

but I would rather recommend a more robust solution for product  comments

I just installed back and seems like i can configure most of the stuff i had issues with before. However i cant make ratings appear in google search, seems like google made some changes http://www.prestashop.com/forums/topic/263284-free-google-rich-snippets-integration-with-yotpo-social-reviews/.

Is there any changes i can do to show star rating and price in google?

Also i can't find Rich Snippets settings in Yotpo dashboard, i'm pretty sure it was there yesterday, but not anymore

I have the same problem.

I noticed that 2.9.1 version of the comment module is not working with my 1.5.4.1 so I wanted to switch back to some previous version.
I deleted the 2.9.1 version and tried to install 2.3 but then I got that message.

Now Im hanging for the 100 time with Prestashop...

P.S. Is it so hard to get a list of all PS native modules and list compatible version???

I got in my BO sign that new version of the comments is available for upgrade so I hit the upgrade button. I didnt have clue that this will cost me 2 days of time and frustration  <_<

it seems that even though you are using a 1.5 shop and the module list says update me, that there are incompatibilities.   Something to do with module cache possibly being introduced in a later version of 1.5.

 

Personally when I write a module and it supports only certain versions I check for this but that does not seem the case with for example home text editor 2.1.

 

When I find out more I will post here.

 

btw: sorry for your frustration for doing what PrestaShop is prompting you to do.

If it last remark was honest then thank you sir.

If you check this then you are probably doing your work well. It is even more concerning this is done by the official PS developers.
If the didn't think of this the what we can say about others...

Milos aka Vekia managed to install product comment module and switch it back to latest version 2.9.1
He didnt tell me how he managed to do that as I was having the same issue as the original poster of this question. Hopefully he will step forward and tell us...

But, this newest version of the module is not working with my PS version which is 1.5.4.1

This is what I'm getting for every product:

Please post solution to this issue, there are like 4-5 topic that I found all being similar and there are several people experiencing the same issue like mine. You would be saving a lot of time and nerves believe me.

I found installing product comments (the last version - auto-updated from the version that comes with PS 1.5.6.1) also rather buggy. When I installed it at first sight it seemed installed correctly. But when I clicked the link to enter a comment I got an error message that something couldn't be loaded. When I clicked "Repair" in the modules section in the BO I got the error message that it couldn't uninstall. But when I looked then it appeared that it had uninstalled anyway. So I re-installed it and then it worked.

Same exact problem, I cannot install any version of "productcomments" module :'( if you could share with us the steps to do it we would be very grateful!

I have the same problem, I had installed the 2.3 version but when I updated to 2.9 version everything started to work bad. I have installed prestashop 1.5.5.0

I wrote to vekia to remember him about this topic, but I think that even if he logs in he is not checking PMs, I'm still waiting hoping that he reads :(

I've tried instead to download the whole new folder from Github (https://github.com/PrestaShop/PrestaShop-modules/tree/cedfb3b8169ec9e2e7cd9ed2390efaa36ea47e11/productcomments) which is the version 3.0. The result is a different error when I try to install it on 1.5.4.1 (now I get a completely white page with some exceptions written, instead of a Prestashop error).

I have checked all ps_product_comments_....  tables and are all empty

except one the ps_product_comment_criterion_lang

This table has 3 fields with 2 rows of data.

 

Field 1 id_product_comment_criterion------>row 1 has value 1 and row 2 has value 1

Field 2 : id_lang------>row 1 has value 1 and row 2 has value 2

Field 3 : name------>row 1 has value 'quality' and row 2 has value 'quality'

 

Is it safe to delete theese two rows? Are theese rows prevent product comments module from being installed ????

Could you check if you have enabled "Automatically check for module updates" under Administration>Preferences. This way it will show you which module upgrade is available whenever it's uploaded on addons.prestashop.com

Cool answer, but you forget that we cannot install the module, and the module upgrade works on installed modules only :D It is a loop!

Actually mine was uninstalled. So when i clicked on "Update" it upgraded the module and installed it at the same time. Not sure where to download module if you have deleted it completely. Maybe try downloading latest prestashop version and taking modules/productcomments folder from there because the one you posted from github seems to be older version

Latest module update 3.3.4 fixed problem with installation 

I fixed the problem with the productcomments module. Let me tell you what I did.

 

1. I did a full backup of my data base and I exported my theme

2. I installed the last prestashop 1.5 version (1.5.6.2) in my PC like localhost just to make some tests.

3. I imported the backup of my data base and my theme to my new prestashop instalation.

4. I updated the productcomments module to the last version (3.3.4) and everything looks like before :)

5. And as last step I cleared the cache.

 

As everything is ok now, I will update my store to the last prestashop 1.5 version

Thanks, seems that the installation bug is gone in this version, I can install it without trouble. It seems to be broken at least for version 1.5.4.1 tough, since if I enable it (also with a reset of the module) every single product page in my shop will stuck on a blank screen :(

That's what I get:

in /web/htdocs/www.***********.com/classes/Tools.php on line 1845 Fatal error: Call to undefined method ProductController::getProduct() in /web/htdocs/www.***********.com/modules/productcomments/productcomments.php on line 772

And found I think the same problem here, with same module: http://www.prestashop.com/forums/topic/290843-1561-fatal-error-undefined-method-getproduct-in-blocksharefb-and-productcomments/

But I do not have any override :(

And from this topic http://www.prestashop.com/forums/topic/317315-updated-08-04-2014-new-suggested-modules-updates-for-15xx-are-broken/ it seems that we cannot use this module anymore with PS 1.5.x (at least the lastest version, which is the version which fixes the installation issue!)
