AOBTeam
Having a problem with Free shipping showing up on all my products. Recent change includes the addition of a new module from presto-changeo "attribute wizard pro". i contacted them and this was the reply: Hi Derek,I took a close look at the site, and added some debug code too just to confirm, and it looks like the issue is with your Prestashop installation.I updated the shipping modules to the latest code.I checked our module, and saw that it was returning rates correctly (you can see it on the product page).I also checked the main function that Prestashop calls in our module, and made sure it was returning a rate (which it was).I then added one of the built in Prestashop carriers (which should show up correctly if the issue is related to our module), but even that was not showing up for me during the checkout.I suspect that something happened when you upgraded your shop.If you get the built in carrier to show up correctly, and still have issues with our module, let us know and we'll be happy to investigate. If anyone has any thoughts on this please advise. as it stands right now, all 578 products are available on my site with free shipping. i went with their shipping module a year ago at launch because i couldnt get the built in carrier modules to populate shipping rates correctly. the paid modules have been working fine until this latest module addition. i believe what he is saying is true but dont know how to proceed. can anyone help me on this please and thank you in advance for your insights. ------------------------------ ********UPDATE********** ------------------------------ After 2 hours of combing the forums i found the nugget that got me to the promise land!!! There is a lot of people having problems with free shipping showing up. Because "Free Shipping" is a setting you can enable if you want, when people see the free shipping show up on their cart in spite of everything turned off for free shipping, like me, they freak!!! how is this possible when everything is set to 0 in shipping to disable free shipping? Well here is my light bulb moment....when i was seeing free shipping show up in my cart, i was mistaking free shipping for free shipping when in reality the absence of a carrier will yield free shipping. in other words there,s no carrier to select because none is assigned and prestashop is coded to yield the message free shipping (poor choice as a default message because it is misleading, confusing to the customer and confusing to the shop owner trying to figure out why it says free shipping when free shipping is disabled). I found and will paste below an entry 4 pages deep in a thread that really gave me the clarity on the above distinction i pointed out. i use the warehouse function when adding products. just so happens when i got the new module installed (mentioned above this update) i started adding products with lots of attributes but failed to check them on the warehouse tab. that's part of why when i added the new products to the cart they showed up as free shipping! prestashop is basically asking where are these products stored? if it doesn't know where they are stored then how can it determine how they will be shipped? ok, but why are the other 500+ products that have been in my store for a year suddenly coming up with free shipping? they are all checked on the warehouse tab. Not really sure how it happened but because i use warehouse, i have to select a carrier in the warehouse (how to do this can be found in the post below). my site worked fine for a year but i'm thinking when i upgraded to 1.5.6.1, somehow my carriers got reset in warehouse. because this is a set it and forget it setting, i forgot all about it for i haven't had a reason to go back to the warehouse since i set it up a year ago. this may have been very wordy but its how i arrived at the solution and hopefully it helps you fix whatever free shipping problem you are having for i'm back in business at http://www.americanoakbarrel.com here's the thread: http://www.prestashop.com/forums/topic/252794-free-shipping-text-on-cart-ps-1541/page-4?hl=%20free%20%20shipping%20%20problem and here's the re-post: PrestaShop Newbie Members 1 posts I spent some time to investigate this problem and found some solution to my specific situation. Except freeshipping , there was error "no carriers available" at the fourth step of the checkout. That was caused by the place where the delivery would start - warehouse . When you go to admin/catalog/products you find the tab "warehouse". Connect your product to a warehouse. Than go to Stock -> Warehouses, click edit at the Warehouse you need, fill in all required fields and the main one - CHOSE at least ONE CARRIER in the CARRIERS list. Save changes and the Carrier will appear in the 4th step of the checkout if the customer address is from the same zone with the warehouse. This also ended the "the always free shipping" problem.P.S. The mentioned Prestashop version is 1.5.6 Edited January 24, 2014 by AOBTeam (see edit history)
