Subcategory products not showing under master category after upgrade to 1.5.6.2

Recommended Posts

Since upgrading to 1.5.6.2 today, I have noticed that products in subcategories don't show up in their main category.

For example, I have a main category of "Boots", with subcategories "Ankle Boots", "Mid Length Boots", "High Leg Boots".

Before the upgrade, if I selected the "Boots" category, all products in the subcategories below them appeared, now they do not.

This is a pain, as I used the blocklayered module to filter down to the subcategories.

Please let me know what may have changed and how to change it back if possible!!

Have you checked the configuration of the layered navigation block to see if 'Show products from subcategories' is set to 'Yes'?

Cheers, Dave

HI Dave

Sorry I've only just seen your reply. I rolled back to 1.5.6.1 in order to carry on developing my site. The layered navigation wasn't the problem, it was the main categories not showing the child products that was the issue, I've limited the menu to 2 subcategories in order to make it look less cluttered, and let the layered navigation handle the filters from there. For example, the main dropdown menu has the header "womens" and in the dropdown, there's "boots". entering this category (which has no products, only subcategories), there is also ankle boots, mid length boots, wellies etc. Before, when I clicked on "boots", all products from the subcategories below would show up, and the user could use the layered nav to filter. With 1.5.6.2, clicking on boots shows nothing from the child categories. Sorry if this seems a bit long winded. I'm guessing that there's been some sort of mod to a controller somewhere in the update, as looking at other threads suggested that people didn't want shild category products showing under the parent.
