Bianca007
I'm assuming this is the place to make suggestions/comments? I am new to Prestashop (about a week so far) and am finding it extremely hard to customize this cart. If you want to swap colors, add a background, move things around, it's very easy, but let's be honest... that is not "customizing". It seems like anything more complicated than basic css changes requires all sorts of programming skills, or at least, heavy knowledge of the cart. This cart is really great and has all of the things I was looking for but it seems impossible to get any help with customizing it. I really wish the PS team would get more people who know Prestashop's in and outs in the forums, and/or have some sort of paid support option on the site. I am finding it impossible to get any help on the questions that are more complicated then "how to I change the logo". It's very frustrating because I really want to use this cart but without good documentation or people who know how to customize the cart, I'm finding it really hard to learn. I even offered to pay for help on one of my questions and still got nothing.I really wish you would consider setting up some sort of paid support option or at least setup a new mod team that could answer customizing questions. :-S
ruilong
you can always post your questions on the forum, or you can hire a developer to do the job for you.Prestashop is really easy to work with since it has all the hooks and object oriented architecture. Bianca007
believe me, I did post my questions and I never get an answer if the question involves something more than a change in the css file (which is the reason for my post here). And I did offer to pay a developer but also got no replies on that.
TropischBruin
I agree with you, Smarty is NOT a smart way to build Templates/Theme's with.
Bianca007
ABSOLUTELY!!! Normally, when I see a script that uses Smarty Templates, I don't even give it a second look. Unfortunately, this time I need a cart that has unlimited products, accounts, wish lists, and vouchers (reward points was a great bonus) and I have searched high and low for a good open source cart and even fairly priced commercial carts and could not find one that had everything I need. The cart I normally use is in Perl/CGI and the template system is out of this world!!! You basically make a HTML page like you would with any other site (so it can literally look ANY way you want it to) and then you just plug in tags for where you want things to show up like "content", "mini cart", "wishlist", "featured-products", etc... it is hands down the EASIEST script I've ever worked with in terms of customizing the front-end. Anyhow, I don't know how feasible it is, but I certainly wish PS would re-evaluate their theme/template system for future releases.
