Image linking instead of upload

Final few steps to get site live & the design staff have got the last, if a massive amount, of product images to upload & associated with products.

 

We are managing the site via a Git repo which we deploy out so FTP is mostly out of the question for what we're doing. We also have a standardised file notation structure for our images to help with collating / managing them.

 

We need a way of associating the product images we already have in our Git repo to products. Currently it asks for products images to be uploaded & linked on the product page. We don't want to reimport all the products either or use a third party package like StoreManager unless absolutely needed.

 

What would be the simplest way to link already uploaded images to products without doing a product reimport?
