Payment Solutions (Yes I know it's been asked before)

Recommended Posts

Hi All,

Yes I know it's been asked before but as a new startup business in the UK, I'm looking for the latest info on the best UK small business account, gateway and Merchant account solution for prestashop and it's easy integration into Prestashop. I'm running Prestashop for a Pet Supplies business in the UK

What I don't want is half a dozen replies from the usual gateway or merchant account salesmen telling me that their product is the dogs hairy bits!. I'm, not interested!

I'm only interested in recent experiences from like minded businesses.

Thanks for all your help.

All the best and thanks in advance.

Karl.

Thanks DH42,

I like the idea of no monthly payments but there's no way I'm paying 3.4% + 20p a transaction for PP and Sage is very vague regarding fees for merchant accounts. Plus the module price for Sagepay integration is a joke. Add a years support and it's nearly over £300 for the priveledge of paying them money every month!

I'm considering PaymentSense but review wise they seem to be either loved or seriously hated! Everything I've read says that customers that love them say they can't do any wrong and the haters often say that they hide extra charges and that the salesmen make promises that they later deny. Who knows!

Thanks again.

Thanks DH42,

I agree that Sage look ok but not at their prices.

For a small business startup looking at high volume, low profit sales, the charges from Sage would be crippling.

Any other suggestions? Do any UK banks have Merchant accounts combined?

Thanks again.

I don't think people know what you want. With a non qualified account like paypal or stripe the rate is 2.9% unless you are processing more than 100k a month.

With a qualified like auth.net or blue pay, you can get the rate down to 1.5 or so just depending on your volume, credit rating, and risk rating. But you will pay a monthly fee.

Other than taking bank wires and checks, those are about the only choices and everyone pays those prices.

Thanks Dh42,

Sorry if you don't know what I'm looking for. As I said in my original post, I'm just looking for personal experiences of website owners and their payment setups so that I can make an informed choice as to who I decide to go with.

If I still haven't explained it, please feel free to ask again.
